She’s more interested in the party she’ll go to later, as soon as her sister Emma arrives to take over babysitting duties. But nothing goes according to plan . . .  But the truth . . . Twenty years after that night’s vicious attack, Emma remains scarred in body and mind. Jamie, back in River Glen after their mother’s death, still feels guilty over trading places that fateful evening. Then suddenly another young babysitter is attacked. Jamie, with a teenage daughter of her own, fears something much more twisted than coincidence.  Is even more terrifying . . . Is this new nightmare connected with those long-ago crimes? Emma’s fractured memories may contain the answer. But the deeper Jamie digs, the darker the secrets waiting to be uncovered—and avenged . . .

Book The Babysitter (River Glen Book 1) Review :

20 years ago, the most popular girl in school is attacked and almost killed by someone in a mask. Prior to her being stabbed, she is “pranked” by fellow boy classmates. In present times, this woman, Emma, who is cognitively delayed from the attack, loses her caretaker mother, so her sister Jamie moves to take care of her. In present time, attacks like the ones 20 years before begin to occur, with school-related pranks also preceding them. What is going on? But much of this book is filled with the most lurid Peyton Place sordid affairs taking place. Almost every single couple in this place has been divorced and has had affairs with each other. It is so confusing, you almost have to make a “family tree” of prior marriages, and current and past affairs, and children in order to keep everyone straight. One of the most stupid parts is that the hot Detective in this booker, Cooper, who soon falls in love with Jamie, tells her every single thing he learns in his investigations! Every single woman in this city has the hots for Cooper. The book is stuffed full of inane details in order to fill the pages. There are descriptions of whatever Jamie puts on to wear, for instance, and whatever she provides for dinner. The lovemaking scenes are nauseatingly juvenile. The only reason for giving this 2 stars instead of 1 is that the murderer was mildly surprising at the end. This was a really dumb book. I won’t waste my money reading more from this author.
Was there a babysitter stalker all those years ago or were the deaths just coincidence? Jamie Whelan, a high school sophomore, is supposed to be babysitting but wants to go to a party instead. So her older sister Emma agrees to come by later and take over the babysitting. Things take a dark turn when Emma is attacked by someone who broke into the house. Her injuries leave her permanently disabled and jamie feels responsible. After her mothers death Jamie and her daughter move back home to take care of Emma. Then another babysitter is attacked. Was she really attacked? Will Emma ever remember what happened that night twenty years ago? Very well written mystery that kept me guessing until the end. Highly recommend!
